Adverse Crossfall occurs when a section of road with a curved alignment is not super-elevated to counteract the effect of the centrifugal force acting on vehicles travelling along the road.

Adverse crossfall should be only be applied on curves of large radius.
The Austroads Glossary of Terms defines adverse crossfall as "A slope on a curved pavement that generates forces detracting from the ability of a vehicle to maintain a circular path."
